radiolucency around tooth 36, especially evident around the
furcation (Fig 19J). However, the author worries that from
#
repetitive occlusal forces, the margin around 38 will start to
open and result in decay and periodontal problems (Fig 19K).
6-months – The referring dentist had taken an updated radiograph that
showed near complete healing of the radiolucency around tooth
# 36 (Fig 19L). The patient reported satisfaction with the function
of the bridge.
1-year – It is evident that the patient has been paying extra attention in
maintaining cleanliness around the bridge. Radiographic
examination showed complete healing of the lesion with
#
reformation of the lamina dura around tooth 36 (Fig 19M, 19N).
The patient was appreciative of all the efforts made to retain of
her tooth and said she would recommend her friends and family
to the office.
3-years – The referring dentist forwarded the follow-up radiograph of tooth
# 36 and reported that the bridge was still stable and functional.
The radiograph shows complete healing of the alveolar bone
#
around tooth 36 that is not discernible from the adjacent bone
#
(Fig 19O). The lamina dura around tooth 36 has completely
reformed and the extruded sealer resorbed by the body, once
again exemplifying the concept that proper overfilling of sealer
does not inhibit healing (Fig 19P).
