Case 8
Lateral canal is often present at the inner curvature of the root
(Fig 8A) (Fig 8B)
An inner curvature is observed at the Post-operative radiograph confirmed
#
distal apical third of tooth 24 and a presence of a lateral canal at the inner
#
lateral canal is suspected at that curvature of tooth 24, as well as a
#
location. complex apical delta on tooth 25.
A sudden inner curvature can be seen at the distal apical third of the root of the
#
left upper first premolar ( 24), possibly from a disturbance during root development
forcing it to bend to avoid the barriers (Fig 8A). One should expect a lateral canal
branching off the main canal at the location of the inner curvature. After treatment of
#
#
#
both 24 and 25, a lateral canal can be seen filled in 24 and a complex apical delta is
#
observed on 25 (Fig 8B). Sealer puffs were also present as a result of the proper
overfilling of canals that Dr. Schilder aims for.
