                 Crown lengthening procedure allows more tooth structure to be exposed, making it
            easier  to  isolate  which  lower  the  chances  of  microleakage  in  the  future.  In  addition,
            crown lengthening also allows for easier removal of carious lesions. A crown needs to be
            supported on  healthy  tooth  structure,  if  it  rests  on demineralised  or  carious  structures,

            caries can progress and re-infection of the root canal system will happen in the future. Dr.
            Schilder  often  reinforced  the  idea  that  coronal  seal  is  as  important  as  apical  seal.
            Therefore,  the  need  for  pre-treatment  isolation,  crown  lengthening  surgery,  post,  core,

            and crown should be discussed prior to initiating root canal treatment. The success of root
            canal treatment depends on the ability to maintain both coronal and apical seal.
