Pulpal: Irreversible pulpitis
Periapical: Symptomatic apical periodontitis
P2 Discussed proposed treatment plan with the patient. Informed consent obtained to
proceed.
#
1) 35 Root canal treatment
# 35 root canal treatment completed following the standard protocol for
cleaning, shaping, and obturation. Overfilled sealer can be seen in the
obturation radiograph (Fig 34C).
2) Follow-up
6-weeks – Healing of 35 apical lesion observed, tooth mobility has returned to
#
normal, and the patient was able to now chew on the left side (Fig
34D).
#
6-months – Reformation of lamina dura around tooth 35 and continual healing
of the lesion observed (Fig 34E).
#
1-year – Complete reformation of lamina dura of 35 seen and the sealer puff
had been resorbed (Fig 34F).

Note It is evident that symptoms related to the chief complaint from 35 originated from
the root canal system instead of periodontally.
