The patient presented for endodontic
consultation following recommendations given
to her online. She complained of periodic gum

boil that was not disappearing this time.
Radiographic examination revealed a J-shaped

lesion around tooth 45 with inadequate
previous root canal fillings.

After discussion of treatment options, the
patient opted for root canal retreatment of tooth
# 45. No anaesthetics were given. Rubber dam
was placed. Microscopic examination shows

leakage around the old amalgam restoration
with discolouration of the coronal tooth
structure.
