4-years – The patient reported no discomfort during opening, closing, or eating
anymore. A panoramic radiograph (Fig 50P) along with the

There are no evidence of pulpal degeneration or apical radiolucent
lesions around those teeth even after 4 years; There was no need for
endodontic treatment or extraction and implant replacement. The
author then completed full mouth scaling for the patient (she
maintained good oral hygiene, the author discovered little to no food
debris or calculus). Gingival recession can be seen on the lower
+
anterior bridgework that was completed for esthetic reasons 30
years ago (Fig 50S) but overall her gingiva appears to be pink and
healthy. The discoloured exposed root surfaces on the lower
posterior teeth may be carious lesions and are more concerning (Fig
50T/a, 50T/b). It was suggested that the patient uses high fluoridated
3
toothpaste and Waterpik to aid in maintaining good oral hygiene. It
is especially important to regularly use Waterpik with mouthrinse to
clean under the maxillary implant-supported fixed complete denture
(Fig 50U).
