P. 11
Working Length
In this section, the author will discuss the definition of various working lengths
(WLs) during treatment and the most constant anatomical landmarks to use for these
measurements. He will also discuss the importance of maintaining patency and how to
accurately transfer the WLs between files and gutta percha cones.
Chapter 3
Vow to be the Guardian of Diseased Teeth – to Give Them a Last
Chance before Extraction
In chapter 3, the following questions will be answered: How do we assess if a
painful tooth with a large periradicular lesion and increased mobility can be retained?
When is the best time to initiate endodontic treatment on teeth with periodontal diseases?
And what is the purpose of recalls and how do we determine its frequency after
endodontic treatments?
Chapter 4
Abide to Treatment Principles and Resist Monetary Temptation
Heading into chapter 4, the author will discuss the rise of dental implants and
its effect on endodontics. Do root canal treatments and dental implants have to be
diametrically opposed to each other? Can the two complement one another? What
should the concentration of the irrigating solution (sodium hypochlorite) be for root
canal treatments? In addition, how do you search for the orifices for MB2, DL, and C-
shaped canals and how do you properly clean and shape them?
Cleaning and Shaping
In this section, the author will attempt to demystify the world renowned “envelope
of motion” and how to utilize the motion to shape dilacerated or calcified canals to a
proper apical taper while balancing the importance of maintaining adequate canal wall
thickness.
